As over half (51%*) of travelers said they would be interested in buying their vacation wardrobe during their trip rather than beforehand, these fashion-forward destinations offer shoppers a variety of fashionable picks to choose from. So, ditch those predictable spots and instead head to the Sunday markets in Buenos Aires and the luxurious shopping malls of Abu Dhabi.
Stockholm, Sweden
Step into a city that provides an instant atmosphere of cool sophistication. It’s the chic pedestrians strolling the sidewalk in muted colors, clean lines and statement accessories, that make the Swedish capital such a design haven. Stockholm style is known for its simplicity, quality and versatility, and that’s the same for this beautiful city itself, offering travelers a blend of rich history, stunning island parks, a variety of dining and, of course, shopping options. Although Stockholm is a fairly small capital city, each district has its own distinct character. The obvious stop for the fashion-conscious tourist is Bibliotekstan, with some great stores to browse in. Take a look around Acne Studios for all the minimalist fashion finds or Filippa K, and leave with some timeless, Scandinavian pieces. Nearly three quarters (73%*) of travelers have bought vintage or second-hand products when abroad, so it makes perfect sense for those Vintage Voyagers to head on over to Södermalm, usually compared to Brooklyn in New York as the neighbourhood boasts vintage and second-hand stores. Travelers wanting to discover the Stockholm shopping scene further should try this Local Fashion Designers Shopping Tour with a Stylist, providing them with a personalized shopping circuit to meet their style needs, alongside a fashion savvy guide who offers unique insight into the industry.
Where to stay: The charming boutique NOFO Hotel is just a short walk away from Medborgarplatsen Metro Station in Stockholm’s trendy Södermalm district. Here, the rooms are individually decorated, taking inspiration from around the world, including New York, London, and of course Scandinavia, and providing guests with eclectic art and stylish furnishings. The most vibrant part of Stockholm waiting to explore is just around the corner.
Taipei, Taiwan
Already well-known around the globe for its textile industry, Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture shone a spotlight on its own designers and rich creative offering by founding the now bi-annual Taipei Fashion Week. Whether visiting in April or October for the celebration of local designers or not, this city is a must-visit for fashion lovers seeking wearable, chic attire in high-quality materials. Taipei’s rich fashion scene is embodied in its streetwear, with bold clashing prints and distressed, oversized denims commonplace. Recent collections also saw bubble-soul shoes and vibrant, statement bags taking centre stage in streetwear styling. Visitors with a taste for luxury can shop till they drop at the Taipei 101 mall, while those looking to uncover local brands and tastes should visit the vast range of boutiques and stores in the city’s East District. Often described as the epicenter of Taipei’s fashion scene, this area is known for its unique offering of stores and brands where individuality is key across homewear, clothing and even toys.

Atlanta is home to design-led events taking place including Atlanta Fashion Week and FashionFest, where visitors can see the city’s trends and local designers' collections on the runway. For those looking to shop for their own latest fashion, Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood boasts both globally recognizable luxury brands and local boutiques. Buenos Aires arguably boasts some of the most affordable vintage pieces, from one-of-a-kind antiques sold at the Sunday market in the bohemian San Telmo area to the indoor flea market, Mercado de las Pulgas, in the Palermo Hollywood area.
