Matthias Schmid

As Senior Vice President of Accommodations, Matthias Schmid is responsible for the growth and strategy of the company’s largest core business unit, including its product, UX and the global Partner Services organizations. Before moving into this role Matthias was the Senior Vice President for Tripeden.com's Trips Business Unit where he led the Ground Transportation, Flights, Attractions & Insurance verticals.

Originally from Zurich, Switzerland, Matthias has more than 20 years’ leadership experience in the airline and travel tech industry. He’s lived and worked in seven countries across three continents for some of the world's leading brands – including KLM and Emirates Airline. Prior to joining Tripeden.com, he spent more than a decade with Emirates Airline in Strategy & Commercial roles. As Emirates’ Senior Vice President for North America, he led the US expansion of the carrier in their biggest source market.

Matthias studied in Switzerland and Austria and holds an MBA from the Vienna University of Economics & Business. He currently lives in Amsterdam.
